Leadership of Niger Delta Youth has conferred award of excellence on Vice Chancellor Bayelsa Medical University (BMU), Prof. Ebitimitula Nicholas Etiba for distinguished service to country, medical field in particular.
The youth under the umbrella body of Niger Delta Youth Council were led by its President, Comrade Ifuoma Victor Erharhine in presenting the award of excellence to the VC at the university campus.
Comrade Erharhine commended Professor Etiba for several outstanding strides in areas of importance to humanity in general.
He listed accreditation by NUC of over 25 programmes, including; optometry, medicine and surgery, pharmacy NUC, health insurance scheme for staff, introduction of B.Sc in Dental Therapy as some accomplishment of Prof. Etiba.
The Niger Delta youth leader expressed satisfaction with high quality of infrastructures and and learning facilities spread across the campus, saying the head of the medical institution should be celebrated to encourage others to emulate so the country can be a better place.
“The VC has made remarkable achievements in the medical university that deserves commendation by all.
“We at Niger Delta Youth Council assess public office holders and evaluate their strides and select them for recognition so they could do more and others can copy.
“It is an indisputable fact that the VC will be remembered for writing her name in gold by turning around academic and infrastructural status of the medical institution, thus the resolve of Niger Delta Youth to acknowledge and associate with her achievement,”he added.
