A former Vice President, Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo has described as false and malicious a purported scholarship initiative launched in his name for Kaduna North Constituents and allegedly sponsored by Honourable Bello Nasir el-Rufai, National Assembly Member, representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency.
A statement signed and issued to the media by his Principal Private Secretary, Mr Yinka Ibrahim, said the former Vice President, denies any knowledge or ever granted permission to any individual or group to carry out or conduct any scholarship scheme on his behalf or his honour.
The statement reads; “the attention of the former Vice President, Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo, has been drawn to a widely circulated public notice on Social Media platforms, seeking for interested scholarships applicants.’
According to the statement, “as a private citizen, the former Vice President has over several decades, continued to support indigent students without pomp and pageantry, but rather as a modest contribution to his immediate community and the nation at large, he therefore wishes to formally deny any knowledge or consent on the purported scholarship scheme.”
Sambo, therefore, disassociated himself from the scholarship scheme and also urged the general public to disregard the notice and further ask the sponsors of the initiative to retract and discontinue forthwith.
“I wish to disassociate myself from the alleged scholarship scheme and urge the general public to disregard it while asking for retractions by the sponsors of the public notice immediately,” said Sambo.
