We Must Bequeath A Peaceful,  United Nigeria For Our  Children  – Hayab

There is the need  to work towards bequeathing a peaceful and united Nigeria for the children who are yet unborn.

This position was made by Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the Country Director, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria during the Children’s Day celebration organized by Nigerian Television Authority Knowledge (NTAK) in partnership with Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPFN) and other organizations, as part of the Media Report for Children’s Day Programme, held on  May 23, 2024 at the NTA Arena Abuja.

 Rev. Hayab who was represented by Rimpyen Danjuma, the Youth and Education Development Officer of the GPFN said “parents and society are tasked with the noblest responsibility in life which is raising and training children who are the future of our families and society. He added that the future of our family, society and nation is dependent on the quality of life and values we put into the younger generation.

 While expressing delight for being part of the event Rev. Hayab said “the midst of children is the best place to be because it is where you can find openness, simplicity, genuine love, transparency and freedom of mind devoid of any form of sentiment. 

He urged that the Children’s Day Celebration should not only be enjoyed by the children but should also remind all adults of all the beautiful memories we created and shared together with friends of different ethnicity and religion when we were kids, and ponder if we are creating the atmosphere for today’s children to have same experiences. 

Speaking further Rev Hayab highlighted the critical link between education and peace and called for deliberate effort toward Peace Education both in schools and at homes. 

According to him, education has the potential to reduce global inequalities, drive economic progress and above all build a more peaceful and stable world. 

He further reminded all children, parents and guest at the event that all human beings irrespective of colour, race, ethnicity or religion are members of One Big human family which resonates with the vision of One Family under God campaign being championed by the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria. 

Rev. Hayab concluded by wishing the children a fun filled 2024 Children’s Day Celebration, at the same time appreciated the NTA for the opportunity for partnership toward positively touching the lives of children. 

Also speaking at the event, the General Manager Entertainment and Programme Director of the NTA, Madam Tani Ajayi who represented the Director General of the station, Salisu Abdul Hamid Dembos, welcomed and appreciated all guests for honouring the invitation. 

She also appreciated the partners like the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Data Lead Africa, Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and others whose support made the day a reality and memorable. 

She emphasized that NTA is and will continue to be children’s friendly station. 

According to her NTA has been and will continue to represent the interest of children in their programming. 

The DG also called on parents to create conducive environment for their children, and the future is guaranteed. 

She concluded that time is the best thing we can give to our children through attending to their concerns and interests. 

In their separate remarks, dignitaries emphasized that children are the future of the nation and therefore everything humanly possible must be done to make them happier and inculcate in them discipline, knowledge and values for moral and innovative leadership necessary for building sustainable peace and true development. 

The program which took place at the NTA arena Garki Abuja, featured match pass, dance, drama, poetry among others which created fun and frolic for the children and entertainment for guests. 

Over 20 schools drawn from different parts of the FCT and its environs were present in an event graced by various Civil Society Organizations, Children-focused foundations, government officials and captains of industries.
