Death Of Okere-Urhobo Monarch Came Shocking – Delta Govt

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro has paid a visit to the people of Okere -Urhobo Kingdom, in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The visit is to commiserate with the good people of Okere-Urhobo over the demise of their Orosuen, the Traditional Ruler, Prof. Paul Oghenero Okumagba, Idama 11.

Otuaro led top government officials to the palace of the Orosuen in Warri, express shock that the monarch who ascended the throne of his forefather in October 2017.  He said the monarch joined his ancestors less than a year after he became king.

The late king of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom was a renowned proffessed of sociology from the Delta State University Abraka.

The monarch died in July 2019. Deputy Governor said the traditional ruler would be greatly missed for his contribution to the prevailing paece in Warri the oil city.

He said, “the death of the king came with surprised shock  because he died when his wise counsels and support was most needed by government.

“The departed traditional ruler (Idama ll) was one of the foremost supporters of the Senator Okowa’s Stronger Delta vision.”

Oturao, however, assured the people of the Kingdom of government readiness to assist in giving the late monarch a befitting burial.

He charged the people to immortalize the late king by upholding his legacies of peaceful co-existence and love for humanity.

“The Okere Urhobo Kingdom should put their trust in God as their king has gone to be with the lord after a life well spent’, he added.

Responding on behalf of the people and Council of Chiefs, the Regent of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Chief Emmanuel Omovie, thanked the state government for the visit.

He commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for attracting development to the kingdom, and promised to intimate the government on the burial arrangement.

The Deputy Governor said the traditional ruler would be greatly missed for his huge contribution to the prevailing peace in the oil-city of Warri.
