Army chiefs TERRIFIED of Vladimir Putin’s ‘revolutionary’ SUPER TANK, leaked report claims

Army chiefs TERRIFIED of Vladimir Putin's 'revolutionary' SUPER TANK, leaked report claimsVladimir Putin’s latest deadly weapon, the Armata tank, is believed to be far more advanced than its Western counterparts and far more heavily armed. It was revealed at a military parade in Moscow this May– but now a leaked document has allegedly revealed Britain’s military is seriously concerned about the Army’s ability to combat the groundbreaking tank. The document, written by a senior military chief, states: “Without hyperbole, Armata represents the most revolutionary step change in tank design in the last half century.”

It also reportedly questions why the British military has failed to produce a rival to the terrifying machine for more than 20 years. The sinister Armata is believed to be lighter, faster, and have a lower profile than many Western tanks, such as the British Challenger 2.The report suggests the vehicle will have a high-tech “composite” armour and will be decked out with a radar system currently used in Russian jets.

The £2.8million behemoth may also have a “higher muzzle velocity” than other tanks, the report says.

The paper adds: “As a complete package, Armata certainly deserves its billing as the most revolutionary tank in a generation.”

The stark report also asks whether Britain and its allies are on the “cusp of a new technological arms race” and suggests military experts have been too concentrated on designing vehicles intended to withstand Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Iraq and Afghanistan. It continues: “Has an understandable focus on defeating the single threat of IEDs distracted Western military vehicle designers?”Challenger 2, with life extension programmes, is currently due to remain in service until 2035.

“Is it time to rethink?”At least 100 have been ordered by the Kremlin with the first set to roll off the production line in 2018, it is believed. But the report says the warning should not be taken as an official MoD statement.

It comes as tensions between Putin and the West have the world teetering on the edge of all-out-war.This week, US defence secretary Ashton Carter announced Washington has upgraded its state-of-the-art missile system to strike both air and land targets in response to Russia’s military boasting.

And Britain’s ex-ambassador to Moscow told Express.co.uk Russia’s little-known European enclave, Kaliningrad, could be the lynchpin that would spark a devastating new conflict.
